Our Story
TheraPlan began with one family, one clinic, and a billing problem that needed solving. More than 30 years later, we help therapy clinics document their care, bill accurately, and get paid, so they can focus on the kids and families they serve.
Steve, Roxanne, & Ashley Edwards
When their daughter, Ashley, began pediatric therapy, Steve and Roxanne Edwards got to know the clinic that was helping her, and the billing work that came with running it. They offered to help. That clinic became their first client, and in 1992, Edwards Electronic Processing (EEP) was born.
Building EEP
EEP grew from word of mouth. One clinic became many, and over three decades, EEP became the billing partner therapy clinics trust with Medicaid, Early Steps, and commercial claims. The business grew the way it started, through personal service, accuracy on every claim, and clinics recommending us to their colleagues. Some of our clients have been with us for more than 25 years.
From billing to software
After years inside clinics' billing, we kept seeing the same problems start earlier, in documentation that didn't hold up in audits and software that wasn't made for pediatric therapy. So in 2016, we built TheraPlan, an EMR designed around the audit requirements we knew best. The goal was simple: help every clinic document and bill with confidence, whether or not they work with our billing team.
One team, one TheraPlan
Today, EEP and TheraPlan come together as one company, TheraPlan. In 2026, Julia Kastner joined as CEO, bringing a career in behavioral health and healthcare software. The same billing team clinics have trusted for years is still here, and we're investing in the software and growing that team, so every clinic gets top-notch support, however it works with us.
